Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most common questions about escape rooms, our escape games and Escape Factor in general.
Is there a waiver we have to sign?
Yes. We require all participants to sign a waiver before participating in our escape roms. You can view the waiver at https://escape-factor.com/waiver. You can sign the waiver prior to your booking. Important Note: Any participant under the age of 18 needs a parent/guardian to fill out and sign the waiver for them.
Are we actually locked in the room? Are your escape rooms dangerous?

No. While the room may have locks on some doors, the door you use to enter the room  will always be an unlocked exit at all times. Should you leave the room for any reason, however, you might not be permitted to re-enter.

In general, there is nothing dangerous about our room escapes, as long as you use some common sense and follow our directions.

Is there an age limit to participate? What's the most appropriate game for my kids?

Our rooms are open to all ages 6 years and above.  However, please note our child policy:

CHILD POLICY: Children aged 6-12 MUST be accompanied by 1 PAID ADULT (for every 3 children). Unattended children aged 6-12 will NOT be permitted to play, and refunds will NOT be given. Due to safety restrictions, children under age 6 cannot enter the rooms unless they are carried by an adult or in a stroller during the ENTIRE event. Proof of age may be required for borderline-aged children.

All our games are very family friendly.  So, your best game choice will probably be based on a combination of your total group size and your personal preference.  Smaller groups with less experience may find it best to play The Treehouse Raid at Fort Knocks, which is a smaller room packed full of puzzles that encourage everyone to work together.  Small groups (and slightly larger groups) might select Ghost in the Graveyard, however some children may have issues playing in a “spooky” themed and dark room.  There are no scary monsters in the room, so please make your decision based on your personal knowledge of the children involved.  Larger groups may play our most popular room, Bonus Fun Time Game Show Challenge. Finally, our biggest room, The Timekeeper’s Trapped, can accommodate up to 12 players.

What times are your games? What are the costs? How many people can we bring?
View our up-to-the-minute availability and pricing details here.

Each of our escape rooms has varying capacities, with the largest room having a maximum capacity of 12 participants.

For larger groups, you may divide into multiple teams and have all shows run at the same time. Please Contact Us and we can arrange for your rooms to be scheduled simultaneously.

If you have fewer than the minimum participants required for a room and wish to experience one of our 60-minute rooms, please give us a call at 708-943-7227 and we will do our best to accommodate you. Depending on your experience level, we may be able to waive room minimums on a case-by-case basis.

Can we bring additional players with us?

Since you are reserving a private room, you are welcome to bring additional players with you, as long as you stay within the game capacities.

Will anybody else be in the room with us?

All our rooms are PRIVATE. You will NOT be joined by any other customers in your room, unless you bring them yourselves.  Employees may be in the room with you when necessary.

What time should I arrive? How long does the whole experience take? Can we extend our time if needed?

Please arrive promptly for your scheduled time slot. The door will be locked when you arrive, and you will be allowed in once everyone has arrived or you are ready to begin your game.  (You can use this time to sign your waivers on your personal phone.)  Once you enter the building, you will immediately be briefed on rules and regulations before you enter your escape room. At 15 minutes past your scheduled time, your timer will begin with or without all your guests.

For one hour rooms, participants will be given a maximum time limit of sixty minutes to complete the experience. After the one hour has elapsed, there may be a brief overview of the experience. In all, your time with us may take about 60-80 minutes.

Unfortunately you cannot extend your game time beyond sixty minutes for our one hour rooms because we may have other groups scheduled after yours. We need to ensure that we have time to clean and reset the room so we can be prepared for the next scheduled group.

In today's environment, how are you ensuring our safety? Do you require masks or gloves?

We have a number of new guidelines and procedures that we have instituted.  Please visit our Play it Safe page to read more.

Masks and gloves are optional.  Both may be available onsite for a nominal fee.

I'm running late. Can I still join my group? What is your cancellation policy?

We run on a very tight schedule, and may be unable to admit anyone once the experience has started.  As each time slot is a private room, any last minute delays or cancellations are detrimental to our schedule.  As a result, all ticket sales are final and no refunds will be granted to late-comers or cancellations.

What if I can't attend because I'm sick?

Our goal is to keep your guests, other guests and our employees safe.  If you are feeling sick, please do not attend your escape room experience.  We can offer you a credit for a future booking, but we will still run the experience for the rest of your party.  We reserve the right to restrict entry to any customers displaying clear symptoms of COVID, the flu or a cold.

Can you accommodate walk-ins?

Advance reservations are highly recommended. The front door to the building is locked until a group arrives and our employees will open that door within a few minutes of your scheduled time. The best way to ensure availability is to book online ahead of time.  Otherwise, without a reservation, you may arrive to find that we have no available employees to run your game.

What is your policy for food and beverages?

All food and drinks are prohibited from being brought into the actual escape rooms. If possible, discard any of these items before entering the building.  Please note, we have the right to refuse entry to anyone who appears to be intoxicated, and absolutely no refunds will be issued.

Is parking available?

There is metered street parking on Madison Street and nearby side streets. The cost is $1/hr and free on Sundays, with no maximum time limit. We strongly recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early on Friday and Saturday nights, as parking can become limited.

Are cell phones or electronics allowed in the room?

We try really hard to prevent any spoilers for future guests, so taking photos, videos, or any other electronic recordings are strictly prohibited inside our escape rooms. Although you may bring your phones into the room with you, we reserve the right to confiscate any electronic devices should they be used within the room.  These devices will be returned at the end of your session. Failure to comply will result in immediate termination and ejection from the performance and no refunds will be given.

What should I wear?

Since a room can fit many people, the room might get a bit warm. We recommend wearing light comfortable clothing. Also, you may want to consider wearing sensible shoes, as you may be standing for the duration of the event.
