About Escape Factor

Escape Factor, founded in 2016, is the brainchild of two friends who have known each other since middle school.

Jonathan, a software developer in his past life, grew up with Atari consoles, Apple IIc desktops, and 8-bit games. Zork and Oregon Trail gave way to King’s Quest and Myst as the genesis of Jonathan’s love of adventure and puzzle games.

Dexter, previously a graphic designer, was obsessed with visual, identity, and industrial design. A serial entrepreneur, Dexter has always been on the lookout for the perfect unique opportunity to build from the ground up.

Joining forces, Dexter and Jonathan were able to combine Dexter’s artistic creativity with Jonathan’s logic/programming background and love of puzzles.

Their first room, The Timekeeper’s Trap was created in their original Oak Park location. As word spread, the community embraced this exciting new adventure. Escape Factor relocated to Forest Park, recreated the room as The Timekeeper’s Trapped!, and developed 3 new one-hour experiences, Bonus Fun Time Game Show Challenge, The Treehouse Raid at Fort Knocks, and Ghost in the Graveyard.
